Industrial safety cabinet
1 must pay attention to good ventilation
The greater the vapor density of flammable substances, the more easily the vapor stays in a certain space. Therefore, it must be kept well ventilated.
A small safety accident that occurred:
When the flask was washed with acetone and then dried in a dry box, the residual acetone vaporized to cause an explosion, causing the door of the drying oven to be blown up and flew far.
2 liquid with a high flash point is hard to extinguish
A substance with a high flash point, once caught on fire, is generally difficult to extinguish because of the high temperature of the solution.
3 pay attention to wear appropriate protective equipment
When heating a flammable substance or handling a large amount of flammable substances, the experimenter should wear a protective mask and cotton gloves.
A small safety accident that occurred:
The heated solution was placed in a separatory funnel and extracted with xylene. When the cock of the separatory funnel was opened, the ejected xylene immediately caused a fire.
4 pay attention to whether the fire extinguishing method is correct
Flammable substances catch fire, generally have a small combustion range, and use a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. When the fire is large, the general substance can be extinguished with water. Therefore, pay attention to the appropriate fire extinguishing method.
A small safety accident that occurred:
The oil bath caught fire and was extinguished by carbon tetrachloride. As a result, carbon tetrachloride boiled in the oil, causing the oil splashing on the fire, which in turn caused the fire to expand.
When a large amount of metal powder causes a fire, it is best to use a sand or dry powder fire extinguisher. For example, when aluminum powder is on fire, if it is extinguished with water, the fire will burn more violently.
5 pay attention to the storage of flammable substances
Precautions:
1 Store in a cool, ventilated, dry place away from fire, heat, oxidants and acids.
2 The temperature of the flammable liquid storage should not exceed 30 °C, such as: gasoline, ethanethiol, diethylamine, ether, acetone, etc.
3 flammable solids should be protected from moisture and mildew. For example: N,N-dinitropentamethylenetetramine [(CH2)5(NO)2N4], dinitronaphthalene, red phosphorus, and the like. The sulfur powder absorbs moisture and heats up, causing burning.
4 Do not mix with other dangerous chemical reagents. Store them separately.
5 Handle gently, it is strictly prohibited to roll, rub and collide.
6 regular inspections.
