1）SYSBEL Type I Safety Cans are designed for the safe storage and dispensing of flammable and combustible liquids. The safety cans are not suitable for using as containers for the commercial transport of flammable liquids unless designated as DOT/UN approved.
2) SYSBEL Safety Cans are made from 24 gauge galvanized steel, and baked on lead-Free Epoxy Paint Finish.
3) Please consult your fluids supplier and their MSDS to ensure the compatibility of those flammable or combustible fluids with galvanized steel in advance of using safety cans.
4) When filling a Safety Can from another vessel or pouring from a Safety Can into another vessel, it is important to make sure personnel and both containers have the same static potential to prevent state discharge. You can touch all three together before opening the containers to realize this. SYSBEL recommends the use of bond wires or ground wires when feasible, to keep the operation safe.
5The Screens found in Safety Cans’ pour spouts are Flash Arresters; it plays a critical role to prevents flash back into the Safety Can. It is removable for cleaning; please always replace it before using the can. Flash Arrester is removable for cleaning; please always replace it before using the can. Improper replacement of a flash arrester would possibly lead to an entering of a flash fire and the can’s explosion.
6) The Flammable Symbol is marked on the can’s yellow belly band to indicate the Hazard of the Safety Cans Content. The Safety Cans should be stored and used in well-ventilated areas.
8) The following caution message should be adhered to:
VAPORS CAN EXPLODE
CONTAINERIS NOT TO BE USED TO TRANSPORT FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting, call physician immediately.
Keep out of reach of children.
Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors.
Do not store in vehicle or living space.
Store and use in well-ventilated area.
Vapors can be ignited by a spark or ilame source many feet away.
Keep away from flame, pilot lights, stoves, heaters, electric motors, and other sources of ignition.
Keep container closed.
Abstract and supplementary of OSHA Standard
1. Type I Red Matallic Safety Cans for Flammables
Type I Safety Cans One opening from which to fill and pour into larger receiving vessels. They are the typical, single-spout safety cans in widest use for transfer, storage and dispensing of flammable or combustible liquids in capacities from 1 pint (0.5 L) to 5 gallon (19L); safety can’s capacity cannot be more than 5 gallons. SYSBEL manufactures Type I cans with galvanized steel bodies in two sizes, involving 2.5 Gal（9.5L） & 5 Gal（19L）.
Type I Safety Cans are designed primarily for filling of containers having large receiving openings, such as rinse or cleaning tanks. However they also can be equipped with accessory funnel attachments for filling containers with smaller opening, specially for fitting unleaded fuel tank.
When working with flammable or combustible liquids, using the wrong fluid could result in equipment damage or even present a potential disaster. Using color in your storage practices help identify, organize and segregate liquid to avoid accidents.
OSHA requires flammables with a flashpoint below 80°F (27°C) be in a red can with yellow band. Typical industry convention is red=gasoline, yellow=diesel, blue=kerosene, and green=oil.
3. Fire Control
Fire control is realized by Flame Arrester, Self-close Lid
The fire triangle demonstrates the three basic elements that must be present simultaneously to support a fire. These elements are the “legs” of a fire triangle. A safety can is designed to specifically eliminate one or more of the elements needed for a fire to start: heat (or ignition source), oxygen and fuel.
